FAIRVIEW — Three people were arrested and are being held without bond after deputies stopped a vehicle and searched a residence in Fairview, according to a report from the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office.
On Feb. 8, Deputy J.S. Rice conducted a traffic stop on Skyline Highway just inside the Galax limits. Rice requested assistance from Galax Police Sgt. Shawny Jones and K-9 Rocko for potential controlled substance detection.
According to the report, Rocko alerted on the vehicle, indicating the presence of an illegal drug. A search of the occupants, along with the vehicle, revealed 77 grams of methamphetamine, 12 grams of cocaine and three grams of fentanyl. Other unknown substances seized from the vehicle will be sent to the Virginia Department of Forensic Science for analysis.
Amanda Lynn Jansen, 34, and Leonard Wayne Cole, both of Galax, were charged with two counts of possession of Schedule I or II drugs. Both were remanded to the New River Regional Jail without bond.
On Feb. 9, deputies and investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on Fairview Road in Galax, the address given by Jansen and Cole. According to the report, more suspected methamphetamine, cocaine and firearms were seized during the search.
Additionally, Chad Gregory Surratt, 27, of Galax, was arrested at the residence. He was charged with possession of a Schedule I or II drug and also remanded to the regional jail without bond.
Additional charges on all three defendants are expected, according to the report.
Grayosn County Sheriff Richard Vaughan commended everyone involved in investigating the case.
